The Gift of words

Dear Readers,

Today, I would like to feature my friend Rainbow, as I call her, but the name given to her by her parents' is Shaneka.  Rainbow and I met at our previous place of employment about four (4) years ago (thank God we left).  From then until now, I have always admired how she stands in her truth regardless of critics.  This attribute of hers makes her objective and honest in her engagement with others. She is supportive and considerate. If something is important to you and she is made aware of it, she will follow up with a kind word of encouragement or show genuine interest in how it turned out.

Story Time

When she told me she was getting married, I was beyond ecstatic for her and me because it would have been my first invitation and attendance to a wedding. But, more importantly, it was my first time praying for the union of two people, not because they were perfect for each other but because they were real with each other. It is pretty rare these days when two people are together, and they can enjoy the freedom of being their most authentic self with each other, without fear of being judged. 

 It is not about being each other's halves, but being whole with each other. There is a kind of purity and honesty in being your complete self and be accepted.  Acceptance without seeking validation is a recipe for growth without trying to change the person at their very core.

Their beautiful union gave me the opportunity to give them a gift that came from my heart. So I penned a  declaration of how happy I am for them and all the good things that I hope will bestow upon them as a union.  Big up my friend Rainbow and her nice, nice husband.
